The Dream Thieves

The Dream Thieves
by: Maggie Stiefvater

Should you read it?: Maybe
...if you read the first one.
Category: Young adult

This is the second book in the Raven Cycle series. I loved The Raven Boys, which was the first one. This one, I didn't love quite as much, but I am still interested in the series as a whole. The third book, Blue Lily, Lily Blue comes out in October. So if you do pick up The Raven Boys and like it as much as I did, then you should pick this one up too and continue the series. But it definitely wasn't as good as the first one - but when is the 2nd one ever as good as the first??

Things I liked:
This one focuses more on Ronan Lynch and it was interesting to get more of his story and background. I enjoyed that a lot.

I enjoyed that Adam was more self-assured in this one than he was in the first. He's away from his dad and he's on his own and while he's definitely not 100% yet, it was just nice to see him more independent.

I will say that I really enjoy Maggie Stiefvater as an author. I've read the Shiver series and this series and I just feel like she weaves stories together really nicely. While I'm still not sure about the whole Glendower thing and where it's going (see below), I am really interested in what happens to all of these characters. She just tells a great story.

Things I didn't:
I am kind-of getting a little tired of the whole Glendower thing. Like who is he really and what is the point in all of this? I would kinda like for them to find him so we can just figure out if all of this was worth the wait. I'm a little nervous that it won't be.

I am really ready for some Blue & Gansey action. I mean, really.

Overall: I just really dig this series.
