The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
by: Jennifer E. Smith

Should you read it?: Maybe
...if you enjoy young adult romance.
Category: Young Adult

Ok, this was just a really adorable young adult romance. I gave it a maybe and not a yes because it wasn't my favorite and I didn't feel like anything really stood out about it overall, but it was definitely cute and enjoyable! It was my first Jennifer E. Smith book and it is about a chance meeting on a flight to London and basically takes place over about 24 hours between the 2 main characters, Hadley & Oliver.

Things I liked:
Oliver is just an adorable British guy. I wanted to be his friend.

I do like the premise of the story - meeting & getting to know someone over the course of 24 hours and kind-of where that all goes. It was a different take on it.

She was able to weave in a lot of background into such a short time frame and I thought that really made this story work in a way that it couldn't really failed if it wasn't done correctly.

Things I didn't:
I had a hard time getting into the relationship between Hadley's dad and his new wife. The story centers around the fact that he left to go teach at Oxford and met someone else and basically had an affair and now they're getting married, which is a difficult topic. And when Hadley meets his dad's new wife, Charlotte, they make her out to be just basically wonderful and I just had a hard time with it. I couldn't connect to that and it made parts of the story hard for me to connect to.

Overall: Definitely a cute read if you want to pick it up!
