2014 Final Reading Rundown

This is gonna be a little intense, but I have to keep it somewhere.

...If you like ChickLit
  • Nadia Knows Best by Jill Mansell - Just not the greatest chicklit book. It was okay, though.
...If you like Mystery or Art History
  • The Art Forger by B.A. Shapiro - I guess I just expected to like this more than I did.

Favorite book: The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion - Such a great narrator & great story!

  • The Distance Between Us by Kasie West - Another cute young adult love story. Rich guy, poor girl.
  • Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry - Bad guy/good girl story. My first experience with Katie McGarry. I loved it.
...If you don't need a happy story
  • The Flight of Gemma Hardy by Margot Livesey - I just thought this was kinda sad and I kept thinking it'd get better, but it didn't.
  • Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler - It's all about the ending of a relationship and I definitely think they should've ended, so it's just hard reading a whole book where I really am not rooting for the main relationship.
...If you like young adult
  • Story of a Girl by Sara Zarr - Just a good coming of age story. Learning about who we are and what we've done and overcoming our past.
 No
  • The Perfect Game by Jenn Sterling - There are just way more books that are way better than this one. Not worth the time.

Maybe...

  • My Favorite Mistake by Chelsea M. Cameron - This one reminded me a lot of Beautiful Disaster. Another couple that are forced to live together. Lots of tension there.
  • Fallen Crest High by Tijan - I am embarrassed that I read this whole series. I have no idea why I like them so much. Wait, yes I do - the Kade brothers. But I had a friend try to read it and she said it reads like a high schoolers short story, so I could just be crazy with this one.

  • Rules of Attraction by Simone Elkeles - I don't know why I like these books so much. All of the Fuentes brothers are just enjoyable for me.
  • Chain Reaction by Simone Elkeles - Same as above.
  • Dare You To by Katie McGarry - This is another in the same series by her. I enjoyed all of them.
  • Wild Cards by Simone Elkeles - I read this because I read the Perfect Chemistry series by her. I liked this one about as much. I like that the main character is a girl who is more of a tomboy. She plays football.
...If you like new adult love stories
  • Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines - I didn't really like this the first time I read it, but if you look ahead in my year, I ended up finishing the whole series & I liked it.
  • Finding Cinderella by Colleen Hoover - Read this if you read Hopeless by her.
  • Fallen Crest Family by Tijan - I read this whole series. Again, I don't know why.
  • Thoughtless by SC Stephens - I just didn't love this one because of the cheating aspect of it, but I may go back next year and read the rest of the series because they won't be about cheating.
  • Fallen Crest Public by Tijan - Book 3 in this series.
...If you like love stories in general
  • Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter - I just really expected more from this one.

  • Landline by Rainbow Rowell - Yes. Just yes. Read it.
  • Open Road Summer by Emery Lord - This was adorable. Young adult love story.
  • Making Faces by Amy Harmon - I thought this one would be too sad, but it was really so good.
Maybe...
...If you like young adult
  • The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith - This was just cute.
  • Crash by Nicole Williams - Bad guy/good girl story.
  • Four by Veronica Roth - Read this if you really really loved Divergent, but it's not necessary.

  • Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover - This is the guy's perspective of Hopeless.
  • The Coincidence of Callie & Kayden, The Redemption of Callie & Kayden by Jessica Sorensen - These are good and pretty steamy, but they also have just some really tough storylines. Parts of it were hard to read, but I liked them overall.

  • Collide by Gail McHugh - I just didn't connect to this one. Didn't even really read the entire thing.
  • Breathe by Abbi Glines - I ended up liking the Rosemary Beach series by Abbi Glines, but I really hated this book, which is the first in the Sea Breeze series. I thought they jumped into stuff with no real basis for the relationship. I just didn't think the relationship was developed enough. I didn't like it at all.

  • Bender by Stacy Borel - Eh, I just read so many better ones this year.

October - 11 books
Favorite book: Remember When series by T. Torrest - This is about a movie star & the girl he dated in high school. It goes through the high school stuff and all the way up through him as a major movie star. It's good.

  • Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover - Read Slammed, then read this one.

Maybe...
...If you like new adult

  • Down to You & Up to Me by M. Leighton - This one was interesting...I kinda saw the twist coming, but kinda not.

No
  • The Bet by Rachel Van Dyken -I don't remember it and I didn't rate it well, so it must not have been that good.

Other books & should you read?:

...If you like new adult
  • The Destiny of Violet & Luke, The Probability of Violet & Luke, The Certainty of Violet & Luke by Jessica Sorensen - This is about 2 of the supporting characters from the Callie & Kayden books by Sorensen. They're very similar. Tough storylines, very steamy.
  • The Duet by R.S. Grey - This was probably my second favorite RS Grey book.
  • Lost & Found by Nicole Williams - This one was pretty good. I didn't immediately pick up the next ones in the series, though. I probably will this next year.

...If you like young adult
  • Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi -This is a young adult dystopian. Beautifully written.
  • Famous in Love by Rebecca Serle - Girl becomes famous in her first movie, love triangle with 2 of the main characters. I liked it. I want to read more. Hopefully they'll put out more in the series.
...If you like new adult
  • Forever Too Far by Abbi Glines - This continues Blaire & Rush's story from the Rosemary Beach series. I can read all of these so fast.
  • Twisted Perfection & Simple Perfection - This is Della & Woods' story from the Rosemary Beach series.
  • No Limits by Lori Foster - MMA fighter & a girl from his past. It's good.
  • Losing It by Cora Carmack - This book is not nearly as bad as the cover & title make it out to be. I read it because I kept seeing people talking about the author. It was okay, but I probably won't read any more in the series.
  • Falling Into You by Jasinda Wilder - This one was pretty good. It's about a girl whose boyfriend dies & she ends up with the boyfriend's older brother. After some time.
  • Take a Chance by Abbi Glines - This starts Grant & Harlow's story from the Rosemary Beach series.
  • Fixed Trilogy by Laurelin Paige - Okay, these...I read these because they're in the top ebooks of the year and I kept seeing people mention them on blogs. I liked them. I actually finished all 3 in 2 days, but they are pretty steamy. Not 50 Shades territory or anything, but they're the top of my spectrum. So keep that in mind if you're looking into them.
  • Archer's Voice by Mia Sheridan - I liked this story a lot. It was really interesting. The main character is mute after an accident and that was just an interesting element to the story. I liked it a lot, but it was one of the highest rating books I've seen on Amazon & Goodreads & I don't know that it was my highest rated personally.
  • One More Chance by Abbi Glines - Another Grant & Harlow story from Rosemary Beach.
  • Tangled by Emma Chase -This was okay...I liked the story and I liked that the narrator is a guy & it's the beginning of the story as opposed to a guy telling their side in the 2nd book of the series. Not my absolute favorite, but it was okay. Pretty funny.
